New Programs

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, one person dies by suicide every 17 hours in the state of Kansas. Through our 2019 initiatives, suicide prevention is a new project that the Flint Hills Volunteer Center is undertaking within our surrounding communities.

According to the Department of Justice, the mission of the Elder Justice Initiative is to support and coordinate the Department’s enforcement and programmatic efforts to combat elder abuse, neglect and financial fraud and scams that target our nation’s seniors. Together our mission is to combat elder abuse and financial exploitation, encourage reporting abuse, and educate the public to make America safer for all.

Our nation is in the midst of an unprecedented opioid epidemic. Recognizing the severity of this crisis, the Flint Hills Volunteer Center will be getting involved in prevention.
