Veteran and Family Support

Supporting our troops and their families.

Fort Riley has always played a significant role in our community, and we would like to say THANK YOU to the men and women that serve our country.

Through the Veterans and Families Support program, volunteers can provide a role in supporting our active duty soldiers and their families. There are several activities where you have the opportunity to lend a helping hand.

If you’re interested in volunteering, visit our become a volunteer page or email us for more information at

Cookie Brigade

Twice a month volunteers provide homemade cookies that are packaged and delivered on base to the Fort Riley USO.

The S.A.V.E. Farm

Through partnership with the Servicemember Agriculture Vocation Education program, veterans are able to volunteer with different aspects of their program: from assisting in the workshop to helping on the farm.

Soldier Welcome Cards

Cards are made and distributed to new soldiers at Fort Riley, welcoming them to their new home.

Single Soldier Homecoming Kits

Items are collected, packaged and donated to service members that are returning home from deployment to get them through the first 24 hours.

No Dough Dinners

Volunteers have the opportunity to serve the USO, who provides a free dinner the last business day before pay day. Volunteers are needed to prep for the dinner, cook and serve the dinner, as well as clean up afterwards.

Volunteer at the USO

Volunteers are invited to serve as staff members at the USO on Fort Riley, welcoming soldiers and their families.
